At the Parish Council meeting, held on 10th September 2008, nine Councillors were in attendance, together with the Clerk and one member of the public.
Grants
A grant of £350.00 was awarded to the Midhurst Community Bus Association. This service is all the more important to villagers of Easebourne now that the DoRIS service has greater restrictions.
Budgenor Lodge Community Facilities Contribution
We are pleased to announce that the stair lift, funded by the above contribution, has now been installed in the Refectory. This will be of great assistance to the elderly and infirm in reaching the first floor meeting room.
Affordable Housing in Easebourne
The Parish Council meeting was addressed by Mr Sam Irving, Rural Housing Enabler for Chichester District Council. He spoke of the increasing number of people on the housing register throughout the district. In Easebourne the number of people on the register with a ‘Local Connection’ far exceeds the available supply of social housing. The District Council, together with Social Registered Landlord, Hyde Martlet, are looking for suitable sites to build more affordable housing. The disused allotments (Cowdray Estate owned), at the rear of Cowdray Road, have been identified as a suitable site. The District Council will continue to liaise with the Cowdray Estate over this site.
Playground
There has, unfortunately, been another incident of a small fire being started in the playground (the second this year), where the safety surface under the equipment has been slightly damaged. Also, following our annual RoSPA report, the cradle swing unit has been taken out of use for safety reasons. Arrangements are in hand for a replacement swing unit which, we hope, will be installed in the near future.
The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Wednesday 12th November 2008 at 7.30pm in the Refectory, Easebourne. All are welcome.
