EASEBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER - NOVEMBER 2006 NEWSLETTER
King Edward VII Hospital
Following the closure of the hospital last March a new planning application for re-development of the site has been submitted to Chichester District Council. The Parish Council held a meeting on 26th September to allow members of the public to ask questions and express their opinion on the proposed re-development. Representatives from the developer were in attendance to outline the proposals and answer questions and concerns posed by the public. After the meeting the Parish Council, as a consultee, met to agree its response to the proposals. Whilst it was accepted that there must be re-development at the site, to preserve the Listed buildings, it was also felt that in order to minimize the impact on the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, services, highway system and the settlements of Easebourne and Midhurst there must be no new-build housing there. The conversion of the existing Listed buildings has always had the approval of the Parish Council.
Cowdray Heritage Project
The work to conserve the Ruins is on schedule and, after completion, is due to open to the public on 31st March 2007, which is one week before Easter next year. A manager for the site has been appointed and we welcome Susan Martin to our community. We hope all parishioners will look forward to visiting the completed attraction next year.
Parish Council Elections – May 2007
If you care about our village and are able to contribute a small amount of time and a genuine enthusiasm about its future, have you considered becoming a Parish Councillor?
There are six Parish Council meetings a year and any Councillor or the Clerk would be pleased to informally discuss what is involved. Although the elections are not until next May you would be most welcome to attend the November or January meetings to see what is involved. Interested? Please telephone the Clerk on 01730 813374.
The next Parish Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th November 2006 at 7.30pm in the Refectory. All are welcome. |
