EASEBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 2005 NEWSLETTER
The Parish Council meeting, held on 9th November 2005, was attended by 10 Parish Councillors, the District Councillor and the Clerk. Apologies were received from one Parish Councillor and the County Councillor.
Councillor Vacancy: At the November meeting Mr Christopher Hill tended his resignation as a Councillor and there is, therefore, a vacancy for this position. If you, or anyone you know, is interested, we would be pleased to hear from you. The job is not too onerous with only six Council Meetings a year plus the Annual Village Meeting which is held in April. You need no formal qualifications, just a desire to see the character and facilities of our village maintained. You may contact any Councillor, or the Clerk, for further details. Unless at least 10 electors request a bye-election this vacancy can be filled by co-option.
Parish Precept: At the meeting the Council accepted the proposed budget for the year 2006/2007 and agreed to hold the Parish Precept at £11,500 for the third consecutive year.
Budgenor Lodge: Work on the affordable homes is well advanced and it is expected that they will be available for occupation in the Spring. With scaffolding erected, work on the conversion of the main building is now underway.
Cowdray Heritage Trust: A contract has now been signed for the commencement of the main conservation work of “Cowdray Ruins” and this is due to start on 21st November 2005. The Parish Council has written to Chichester District Council expressing its concerns about the lack of progress towards the provision of additional parking spaces for the attraction, which is due to open to the public at Easter 2007.
The next Parish Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday 11th January 2006, at 7.30pm in the Refectory. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
