EASEBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL
APRIL/MAY 2007 NEWSLETTER
King Edward VII Hospital
The Parish Council held a public meeting on 4th April 2007 in order to discuss the substitute plans for the re-development of the disused hospital site. As the developer had addressed our earlier concerns about the quantity of new-build homes on the site, and had reduced the overall number of homes from 337 to 263, the Parish Council did not oppose this planning application, although certain issues still gave rise to some concern. These included the Linear Accelerator building that we felt should be demolished, the provision of a highway improvement scheme before planning permission was granted, the type of affordable housing being provided and consultation with the Parish about the developer’s contribution to community facilities. The chairman, Mr Ian Heustice, spoke on behalf of the Parish Council, at the Chichester District Council Area Planning Control Committee meeting on 11th April 2007, when the plans were approved subject to a legal agreement.
Budgenor Lodge
A condition of the granting of planning permission for Budgenor Lodge was the provision, by the developer, of an amount of money to be used for Community Building/Facilities. Consequently, Easebourne Parish Council has the opportunity to spend £31,500 on a community project for the benefit of all parishioners. A representative from the District Council, together with your Parish Council, are discussing several suggestions and would welcome any ideas that you might have for a suitable project that would be of benefit to the village community.
