EASEBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL

NEWSLETTER ~ JULY/AUGUST 2007

Schools Concessionary Travel. From September, West Sussex County Council will be introducing a 3 in 1 scheme which will give children up to 16 years quarter fare travel and those from 16 to 19 years, in full time education, half fare travel. This will also apply to evenings and weekends.  The card will be a travel card, a proof of identity and enable discounts to be obtained from a growing list of traders.  Application forms are available from schools.

County Local Committee.  The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 11th September 2007 at Midhurst Grammar School.  There will be a single agenda item, the NHS “ Fit for the Future” debate concerning our hospitals in West Sussex.

Proposed South Downs National Park
. Details of the current proposals may be viewed either on the DEFRA web site or at Chichester District Council offices (in Chichester only). http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-countryside/issues/landscap/natparks/sdowns/index.htm

Parish Council Web Site.  We have a “new look” web site and would recommend you to visit it at www.easebourne.org

District Council Choice Based Housing Lettings Scheme.  From 9th July 2007 people on the housing waiting list will be able to bid for empty properties via a new web site and fortnightly list. Decisions will be based on need and position on the waiting list.

Cowdray Heritage Trust
.  Councillor Andrew Guyatt is now the Parish Council representative on the Board of Trustees, replacing Mrs Elizabeth Hamilton who has become  the District Council representative.

Overgrown Hedges/Bushes/Trees
.  The recent weather has encouraged our plants to grow rapidly.  Consequently many properties now have perimeter hedges etc. that are overhanging the pavements and restricting the passage of pedestrians.  We would like to ask householders to trim back any plants that fall into this category.  Your help in doing this would be much appreciated.

The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Wednesday 12th September 2007 at 7.30pm in the Refectory, Easebourne.  You are all welcome to attend.
