EASEBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL
JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2006 NEWSLETTER
The Parish Council Meeting, held on 11th January 2006, was attended by nine Councillors, together with the County Councillor, District Councillor and the Clerk. Apologies were received from one Councillor. Five members of the public were also present.
New Councillor: The vacancy on the Parish Council, caused by the resignation of Mr Christopher Hill, was filled by co-option. Mr Francis Martin, who lives in Dodsley Grove, was welcomed as the new Councillor, bringing with him a depth of knowledge of the area.
Street Lighting: A new contract for maintenance of the street lights, within the responsibility of the Parish Council, was signed with West Sussex County Council.
There has been a large increase in the cost for this service, passed to the County Council by their contractor, but the Parish still benefits by taking advantage of the scale that the procurement of this service, by WSCC, provides.
New Street Light; A new street lamp is to be erected in Easebourne Street, near to Loves Farm, to replace the lamp damaged recently during grass cutting. Happily the Parish Council is not having to pay for this replacement.
Budgenor Lodge: You will all have noticed how rapidly the work is progressing at Budgenor Lodge. The main building is enclosed in scaffolding and the new affordable homes are well advanced. The wall adjacent to the A286 has been removed, as has the old mortuary. This will be replaced by three new cottages and the wall will be rebuilt further away from the road. This will enable, at some time, a new footpath to be built connecting to the existing paths to the north and south of the development. Visibility will be much improved, thereby making the area safer for both motorists and pedestrians alike.
The next Parish Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th March 2006, at 7.30pm in the Refectory. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
