EASEBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL

NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY/MARCH 2008

Easebourne Post Office Closure

Following the announcement on 29th January 2008 that the village Post Office had been earmarked for closure, the Parish Council arranged a public meeting on 13th February 2008 to discuss the proposal.

The meeting was attended by well over 100 members of the public and there was “standing room only” by the time the meeting commenced.  The public had the opportunity to voice their concerns and these were noted and will be used to form the Parish Council’s response to the Post Office consultation.

In addition, the public were asked to respond as individuals, in the hope that if enough pressure is brought to bear, the Post Office may reconsider its decision.  Please note that the consultation period ends on 10th March 2008.

There will also be a petition that can be signed in the Village Stores and at other locations such as the White Horse. The expression “use it or lose it” has never been more relevant than at the present time, so we hope that parishioners will do all they can to help the shop/Post Office to survive.

This will take place on Monday 31st March, starting at 6pm from the Cowdray Estate Office car park.  Everyone is welcome to help and all equipment will be provided. However, you would be participating at your own risk. Please do help us to spruce up our village.
