EASEBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL
JANUARY - FEBRUARY 2007 NEWSLETTER
At the Parish Council meeting, held on 10th January, there were 10 Councillors present, together with the District Councillor and the Clerk.
Proposed Parking Charges in Midhurst
A range of concerns were expressed by most Councillors about the apparent case for charges presented by Chichester District Council. It was the majority view of the Council that charges for parking in Midhurst should not be imposed and we have made this view known to the District Council. The Parish Council chairman has also countersigned a letter to this effect from Midhurst Town Council to the District Council.
We feel that the charges will affect the economic viability of Midhurst, which is vital to residents of the surrounding villages who rely upon it for all essential services. Why should they be penalised because they need to use their cars to obtain the everyday necessities of life?
Grants
In this financial year 2006/2007 we have given grants to the following organisations: 1st Easebourne Scout Group, Citizens Advice Bureau, Royal British Legion, Midhurst Community Bus Association, Rotherfield Sports Association and the Cowdray Heritage Trust. All these organisations have an Easebourne connection and the grants total £1350.00.
Cowdray Heritage Trust
The “Ruins” project will open to the public on 31st March 2007, with organised celebrations taking place. Before then there will be another open day for volunteers to be held on Saturday 27th January at 10.30am.. If you are interested go along to the new Visitor Centre to find out more.
Parish Council Elections May 2007
The time is fast approaching for you to consider whether you would like to serve on the Parish Council as an elected member representing the views of the residents of Easebourne. The task is not onerous, with Council meetings only every two months, and all that is required is a desire to maintain and improve the environment and services of the lovely village in which we live. Please contact any Councillor or the Clerk for further information.
