NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2007

All eleven Councillors were in attendance at the Parish Council Meeting held on 12th September 2007, together with the County Councillor and two members of the public.

OPERATION CRACKDOWN

West Sussex County Council has recently launched this motoring operation with the slogan “Don’t Tolerate it, Report it”.  It provides an opportunity for the public at large to report breeches of the law which include: speeding, thoughtless driving and riding, under-age drivers or riders, drink or drug driving, tailgating, mobile phone use whilst driving, vehicles in an unsafe condition, abandoned and untaxed cars or motorbikes.
Reports can be made on 01243 642222 or www.operationcrackdown.org

THE ‘3 in 1’ CARD

This card for young people in full time education, introduced from the start of term, provides for reduced and half fares, not only to places of education but also at evenings and weekends. It also acts as a proof of age card and offers discounts at numerous traders.

CRIME AND DISORDER

An event is to be hosted by the Sussex Police Authority at the Leconfield Hall, Petworth on 13th October 2007 between 10.00am and 2.00pm.  The programme is outlined below and you may attend for all or any part thereof:

10.00am            Fire Prevention and safety checks
10.30am            Reducing Anti-social behaviour
11.00am            Sussex Police Authority budget priorities
11.30am            Policing Chichester District
12.00pm            Managing prolific offenders
12.30pm            Dealing with bogus callers

CHILDRENS PLAYGROUND

There have been instances recently of broken glass being found near the play equipment, together with dog fouling.  As these are both harmful and unpleasant to the young children who use the playground we would ask any members of the public who see dog fouling or bottles being broken in the play area to telephone the Clerk on 01730 813374.  Thank you for your help.

The next Parish Council meeting will take place on Wednesday 14th November 2007 at 7.30pm in the Refectory.  All are welcome.
