EASEBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL

NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2009

At the Parish Council meeting, held on 11th November 2009, ten Parish Councillors were in attendance, together with the District Councillor and the County Councillor.

Speed Indicator Device (SID)
We now have several volunteers to operate SID and, following the necessary site checks by the police and the County Council, they will be trained to use the equipment, probably commencing in the Spring.  We extend our thanks to these members of the community who care enough about road safety issues in Easebourne to give of their time voluntarily.

Pedestrian crossing on Dodsley Lane at the junction of Wheelbarrow Castle and Hollist Lane
The Parish Council is very aware of the absence of a “lollipop” person at this busy crossing point.  We have been liaising with the West Sussex County Council for his/her re-deployment, but the delay is due to Health and Safety concerns about the pedestrian approach to the crossing.  We are promised that this will be rectified very shortly.  Although the County Council has no statutory obligation to provide a crossing patrol person, we are hopeful that once the adjustments are carried out a “lollipop” person will re-appear.

Proposed Car Parking charges for Midhurst
This proposal will go before the Chichester District Council Policy Development Committee shortly, followed, in December, by the Executive Board and full District Council.  The Parish Council remains firmly against the imposition of charging in Midhurst.

Grants
At the meeting grants were awarded to the Midhurst Community Bus Association and the Citizens Advice Bureau, both services being of benefit to Easebourne residents.

Parish Council Precept for 2010 /2011
The draft budget for the year 2010-2011 was approved at the meeting and the Precept will remain at £12,500, as it has done since 2007.

The next Parish Council meeting will be on Wednesday 13th January 2010, at 7.30pm in the Refectory, Easebourne.  All are welcome.
