EASEBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL

MARCH - APRIL 2006 NEWSLETTER

The Parish Council meeting, held on 8th March 2006, was attended by ten Parish Councillors, the District Councillor, the County Councillor and the Clerk.

How West Sussex is preparing for a possible Bird Flu outbreak
The County Council has mounted a major information campaign aimed at poultry keepers and residents worried about a possible bird flu outbreak in the county. The aim is to set out the facts about the disease and encourage small-scale keepers of poultry to register with DEFRA. At present it is a legal requirement for people to register if they keep 50 or more birds for commercial reasons. More information about the disease is available from the libraries or on the County Council web site at www.westsussex.gov.uk

Manage your Mobile
The County Council has run a pilot scheme, aimed at the mature user, demonstrating how the mobile telephone can be used to receive important information, such as reminders about medical or dental appointments or keeping in touch with family. Any members of the public who are interested in learning more about the uses of their mobile telephone should contact the Adult Education Centre in Midhurst.

Annual Village Meeting

It is again time for our annual village meeting which this year will be held on Wednesday 12th April 2006 at 7.0pm in the Refectory. The Parish Council will speak about its work during the last year and will respond to any questions you may wish to ask. After a break for refreshments, members of the West Sussex County Council road safety and highways team will speak about “Traffic Management and Road Safety in Easebourne” and will answer any questions you may have concerning the subject. We hope as many of you as possible will be able to attend.

Parish Council – Consultation on Planning Applications

After lengthy discussion the Parish Council has decided, on a trial basis of one year, to alter the way in which it responds to planning applications. Although all planning applications are published by the District Council in the local press and on its web site, the Parish Council will now also put these on the Parish notice boards, inviting parishioners to respond, if they wish to, by requesting a meeting, to be held in public, to discuss the applications. Anyone wishing to call a meeting should contact the Clerk (813374).
